DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS OF ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE 10.31.15

I’m a little bit leery about discussing these outside a lesson but I think they are important and it’s worth the chance.  Besides, it’s Halloween! I think each deserves a separate posting, but here’s a tentative list.

The first one we don’t talk about is intimacy, a deep psycho-physical intimacy involving gentle touch and a psychic connection.

The second is the AT hangover.

The third is that in AT we develop muscles.

Finally, for this tentative list, is the emotional and spiritual growth that occurs.

Many teachers appear to be uncomfortable discussing these with a student and just bring them back to the mechanics of the lesson, but for me they are an integral part of an Alexander education–I guess as opposed to a series of lessons

  1. I’ve been an AT student for 40 years, started with Bill and Barbara Conable at Ohio State in the 70’s. Al is a wonderful, communicative, efficient teacher with marvelous hands and a gentle style. I always know I’ve had a successful lesson when I have to adjust all the mirrors in my car(and the seat, for that matter) before I drive home.
